One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is the rapport I get to build with brides even before their big day. Helen and Rob came down from the Midlands for their Cornish nuptials so the morning of their wedding was the first time we’d met, but after months of emailing back and forth I felt like I already knew them.
Every wedding is special, but this one was much different to any other I’d photographed in the past. Not least because Helen and Rob had come down to Cornwall under the guise of a holiday but unbeknown to all but their Mums, they would be tying the knot while here. With just them and their gorgeous little 16 month old they exchanged vows. The witnesses began the ceremony as strangers but seemed to end it as friends. As such a small, intimate wedding, the emotions seemed to run all the higher. I am always touched by the love between two people as they make the commitment of marriage, and these guys had me choking back the tears!
After the ceremony we headed off for some seaside photos, and with the official bit done Helen, Rob and James were able to enjoy the rest of their day in the glorious Cornish sunshine, walking along the beach and even braving the chilly sea for a wedding day paddle.
It was such an honour to be a part of their beautiful day. Photos will of course follow but in the meantime, here’s a sneaky peek…

Lovely shots Donna – particularly like the one of Mother and baby taking a paddle! x
These are gorgeous. Particularly love the one on the edge of the shore – just stunning!
